Chelsea’s Law increases penalties for forcible sex acts against minors, creates a penalty of life without the possibility of parole (LWOP) for specified sex acts against minors, creates safe zones around parks, mandates lifetime parole for specified sex offenses, mandates the Department make available a person’s static State-Authorized Risk Assessment Tool for Sex Offender (SARATSO) score and information on an elevated risk level based on the SARATSO future violence tool, removes the requirement that the defendant be placed in an appropriate treatment program but instead imposes additional conditions on persons released on formal supervised probation for an offense requiring registration as a sex offender.
Jessica’s Law's most significant provisions prohibit sex offenders from living within 2,000 feet of any school and park, and mandate Global Positioning System (GPS) supervision for life.
